Amazon amazing Offer: Droid Phones for a Penny

This year has been all about Smartphones; all the major tech giants in the industry are trying frantically to grab a large chunk of the market share by launching their variants of Smartphones. According to a popular analyst company Nielsen, Smartphone will essentially become a must to have gadget in the times to come.
Android is increasingly becoming a dominant force in the Smartphone industry; the Google’s open source mobile OS is becoming the choice of masses. It is gradually coming at par with the likes of Blackberry and Apple’s iPhones. One of the many reasons of Android’s success, the most vital is the availability and variety of Android powered phones. You can get a Motorola phone, a Samsung phone or even a LG phone that is powered by Android at a very nominal rate, so this means that you can get hands on with large variety of cellphones.
Recently, the mega online store, Amazon started giving an amazing offer; Amazon is currently giving all the Droid Phones for just a penny whenever a new customer signs for a contract with Verizon for a new wireless connection. This particular deal holds good for the complete Verizon’s Droid Phones series including the latest Droid Pro and its predecessor Droid X starting from November 22. All customers who will be opting for a new connection will also be getting a $35 credit that will almost cover up the complete cost of activating that particular Droid Phone.

It seems, there is a sheer competition going on between all the carriers that is sparking a race on the price front. According to many analysts in the Smartphone prone industry, this kind of deal is a far cry from $199 magic price point that has been there for so long. Amazon kicked off this amazing campaign of Smartphone for-a-penny way back in August when it first shaved off the price of Samsung Vibrant to almost 1 cent. Same goes for the Windows Phone 7 deals as Amazon offered 2 Windows Phone 7 powered phones including LG Quantum and HTC Surround for the same 1 cent deal, hooked up with a 2-year contract from AT&T. Last week some special deals were also included for handsets, powered by Blackberry, Palm Models.
Although, it looks very difficult to beat a lucrative 1 cent deal, but this deal is only applicable for the new accounts. All the current customers already running on these carriers denied this deal. All the customers who are eligible for an up-gradation can extend their contracts and get new phones on huge discounted price i.e. $49.99. But any consumer who is not eligible for this trade-up will be paying the full charges. Right now the price of Droid X on Amazon is almost $599.99. Representative of Verizon wireless declined to give any comments on the offer by Amazon.
Other Offers
Another very popular online store BestBuy is also offering a very special deal for the Droid Phones. Although, BestBuy deal is not like one-penny special deal but the online retailer is offering the Droid Pro phone for just $99.99 to all the existing Verizon customers who are already bonded in a two-year contract. This deal means that the existing customers will get almost $80 off from the deal that others are offering. It is still an early speculation that how low this price war will go in the Smartphone prone market as the retailers and carriers are constantly racing for market dominance with lucrative offers. Ultimately, Smartphones will become a throw-in kind of incentive for the customers who will opt for certain wireless connections.
There are exceptions as well, like Apple iPhone which you won’t find in the bargain bin race. This is primarily of the reason that Tech giant Apple does not allow its devices to be sold for a price less than the sticker price, that is universal everywhere.
